Job Summary

This role will be recruited in anticipation of Contract Reward.

Work with stakeholders & Data Architect to analyse and document data requirements turning these into solution proposals, data models and data flow designs. Develop data loads and transformations including the metadata layers for visualisation & analysis. Azure Data platform solution design, development, and deployment. Monitoring of production data management and supporting issue resolution with internal and external third parties. Manage projects / data management processes and line manage a team data engineers.

Essential Job Duties

Development•Work with stakeholders & Data Architect to analyse and document data requirements•Design & documentation of data solutions, data models, data flows and a Data Dictionary •Data development for staging, Azure data lake, Synapse data warehouse and Analysis Services components to effectively meet BI service requirements•Development of data extract, load and transformation routines to implement required data flows / integration on Azure BI / Analytics platform•Manage robust unit / integration testing and coordinate broader testing of data assets•Manage best practice Data Ops and documentation of releases following a defined Change Control process. •Design and lead development of effective data pipelines / layers for data science, API integration, process automation and visualisation•Tune code and investigate data issues to determine the root cause and implement fixes, coordinating with other teams where necessary Production•Coordinate monitoring and support to maintain reliable and performant data management and publishing production processes •Provide technical support for monitoring and issue resolution

Education and Experience Requirements

•Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification and at least 2 years of experience working as a Data Engineer on Azure•Experience in providing technical guidance and supervising / mentoring junior team members•Extensive ETL development project experience utilizing Microsoft Azure enterprise BI stack•Understanding of Azure Data Lake and analytics components including as Data Bricks / Python, Data Factory, Synapse and Analysis Services•Shaping a sound and reliant data strategy, designing, building and releasing a scalable data platform as well as develop and mentoring engineers.•Experience in working in Agile teams, ideally using MS DevOps for work management, source control, testing and deployment.Individual competencies•Ability to develop and deliver end-to-end data warehouse solutions, either as a subject matter expert within a team or independently developing and delivering solutions•Ability to collaborate across BI / IT teams internally and externally to deliver projects•Delivery of priorities to standard and deadline using a logical and commercial approach and excellent time management skills•Highly effective and professional communication skills when working with both team colleagues and internal/external stakeholders•Analytical skill set with an ability to interpret data requirements and advise on and develop data solution•Excellent attention to detail with an ability to work effectively in a team and independently•Ability to work accurately under time pressure
