Job Title: Azure Data Engineer Lead
Location: Remote - Occasional trips to Manchester / South East offices (expenses paid)
Salary: Negotiable + 15% bonus (depending on company performance), 28 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, Medicare, car insurance deals
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 9.00am to 5.00pm

Our client is a financial service provider (insurance) and they are seeking a Azure Data Engineer Lead to join a team of 8-10 people reporting to the Head of Data.
The client operates in an Azure cloud environment so experience in this is essential as is the ability to provide support to junior members of the team.
Must Haves
- Leadership experience; having been responsible for the personal growth and performance management of teams previously
- Broad understanding of data engineering; data warehousing and data modelling / with a number of years having been spent as a practitioner
- Experience and strong understanding of Microsoft data technologies both on premise / and in the cloud / Azure Synapse / Data Factory and Power BI
- Expertise leading data warehousing strategy and implementation
- Evidence of having developed patterns and standards for Data platform solutions
- Experience of agile ways of working; applied in a data delivery environment
- Experience of designing; or maintaining data software development lifecycles/ and continuous integration and deployment (CICD)
- Strong stakeholder management
- Experience in a Financial Services / Insurance environment - nice to have
Description
Our client is looking for an Azure Data Engineer Lead to join their T&D team as one of their leads within the Data Engineering function.
You'll be responsible for the management, development, and support of a team of data engineers. This Lead role works closely with data product owners and business stakeholders to ensure the engineering team work to defined standards and ways of working, always delivering high quality data engineering work to support the achievement of the business.
You'll be the perfect person if:

- Excel in data engineering, data warehousing and data modelling, and have a number of years' experience working as a practitioner

Job responsibilities:
- Responsible for the performance management, coaching and personal development of a team of data engineers
- Responsible for the quality of work delivered by data engineers across multiple data products
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate numbers of well equipped, capable data engineers are provided to meet demand from Data Product Owners
- Responsible for driving continual improvement in data engineering ways of working
- Responsible for completeness and integrity of solutions delivered on the data platform(s)
- Responsible for continual data platform improvements and automation through product ownership for internal to D&A, Data Platform products
- Ensure that effective, and appropriate documentation that brings transparency and understandability are in place for all content on the data platform(s)
- Supports the creation and guides the design of data solutions, using high level solution architecture artefacts and translating them into workable designs
- Deputise for the Head of Data Engineering in discharging their responsibilities as required
