About Decision Science

Sitting within our Risk function, Decision Science is a centre of excellence for analytics, credit modelling and customer insights. The team support the wider Risk division by:
  • Delivering sophisticated data analytics and modelling to support retail and commercial customer needs and credit decisions across the credit lifecycle
  • Supporting the bank’s prudential requirements such as capital and impairment allocation, and capital optimisation

We work with data that underpins vital business decisions, and together we make it possible to add customer value, control risk, and help to build a safe, strong bank for our customers.

Our roles are available in a variety of locations, and we support flexible and family-friendly ways of working.

The role

Several exciting Senior Analyst opportunities across Decision Science have arisen for highly motivated applicants to support credit modelling teams. Decision Science itself is a large collaborative team that thrives in a changing and fast paced environment. These roles offer considerable scope for personal development, whilst building an in-depth knowledge of Commercial & Retail Banking and its clients.

These roles involve working as part of a team to develop and maintain a range of complex Credit Risk models, the role provides the opportunity to:
  • Play a key role in delivering sophisticated statistical modelling solutions to drive decision making across Risk.
  • Use software tools such as SAS, Python and Excel to manipulate large datasets and to build, validate and analyse the performance of a range of predictive models.
  • Work independently, in line with established methodologies and, where required, provide technical leadership to less experienced analysts
  • Think about data differently, using it to really understand customer behaviour and credit performance and to tell a story to the business in order to influence decision making.
  • Build relationships with business partners across the organisation to understand requirements and develop effective modelling and analytical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of the Decision Science team, sharing learning and knowledge and participating in team initiatives to build positive team culture.

The person

We welcome candidates from all personal and career backgrounds and support flexible working arrangements. We'll help you reach your full potential, meet your career aspirations and really make a difference as you embark on a career with excellent development and progression opportunities.

We are looking for people who are:
  • Comfortable working with numbers and have either a good degree in a numerate subject or equivalent quantitative experience gained in previous roles
  • Experienced in the use of programming languages (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python) to manipulate data. Practical experience in statistical credit-risk modelling techniques and methods is also desirable but training will be provided.
  • Analytical problem solvers, able to work creatively with data to draw out insight and answer business questions.
  • Effective communicators, building positive relationships with partners and communicating recommendations clearly to influence business decisions.
  • Well organised and able to manage their own workload while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Proactive in progressing their own personal development and collaborating with others to improve the culture of the wider team

And in return...!

We’ll recognise and reward your performance. Our award-winning benefits package includes:
  • A competitive salary and annual performance-related bonus
  • A generous annual holiday allowance with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days per year
  • An additional annual flexible allowance that you can use to choose from a wide range of benefits, such as Cycle2work and enhanced medical benefits, or take as cash
  • A contributory pension scheme
  • Private medical insurance

We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential.

As a new colleague, you’ll join us on our journey to build a 21st century bank that reflects modern Britain, and craft an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel welcomed and valued.

Together we make it possible!
