Machine Learning/ Structural Bioinformatician

Job Description

We are seeking a collaborative structural bioinformatician to join the Predictive Sciences team in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will be responsible for research and development of machine learning approaches and workflows to discover and optimize novel antibody-based biotherapeutics. This role provides the opportunity to work with subject matter experts on cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems in antibody design.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with project teams to create and implement machine learning models for novel biotherapeutics.
  • Pioneer research on computational design and modeling to assess and optimize molecular design using a combination of internal and external datasets.
  • Evaluate new computational approaches and their feasibility to molecular design.
  • Communicate findings and recommend follow-up actions in multiple settings (including: 1:1, seminars, group, and project meetings).

Qualifications

  • PhD in structural bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, statistics, or similar with 5+ years of relevant experience. MS and 10 years relevant experience, BS and 15 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient with cutting-edge machine learning approaches applied to structural biology problems.
  • Proven track record of contributing to and helping advance multi-disciplinary team projects.
  • Expertise with a high-level programming language such as R or Python for sophisticated data analysis and reproducible research practices.
  • Scientific curiosity with an ability to identify questions machine learning approaches can address, and the skills to develop solutions both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork.
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
  • Knowledge in biochemistry or protein engineering.
