Senior Associate Data Scientist

The Combination Product Data Scientist is responsible data analytics activities associated with data collected during the production and test of Amgen Combinations Products. This individual shall have a penchant for pulling relational data from disparate databases into meaningful data-sets, and creating insightful reports for informing our business trends, efficiencies and process modelling.

  • Perform data analytics with data collected during the production of Amgen Combinations Products.

  • Query data from disparate internal databases and bring them together for meaningful trends, analysis, and insight.

  • Architect, develop, verify, and validate automated scripts from pulling data from disparate sources using tools like Databricks, Spotfire and Tableau.

  • Provide data analytics support in the development and validation of in-silico models for medical device and combination product systems.

  • Develop automated test scripts for debugging and validating data integrity for automated queries.

  • Work with Combination products customers for Data Analytics required to improve manufacturing operations, new product introduction, or vendor monitoring (i.e. quality, reliability, cost saving).

  • Support research and prototyping of new tools and technology in the area of Data Analytics.

  • Participate in and assume responsibilities in cross functional product improvement teams.

  • Facilitate robust horizontal communication to ensure all functions are aware of changes in work and impacts to risk.

  • Develop and maintain coordinated project plans and timelines involving data analytics and tool development.

  • Participate in requirements gathering, architecture, strategy, deployment, and documentation of new tools to digitize combination product workstreams (i.e. design control tech transfer, design verification, Human factors).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • OR Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of engineering/data science experience

  • OR Associate's degree and 6 years of engineering/ data science experience

  • OR High school diploma/GED and 8 years of engineering/ data science experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Mechanical, Chemical or Biomedical engineering with specialization in Data Science.

  • Experience working with data query, analytics, and visualization tools such as Databricks, Spotfire and Tableau.

  • Experience in programming or complex scripting languages. Ability to debug and test automated scripts.

  • Experience in a combination product or medical device development organization to understand the business processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly matrixed team environment.

  • Technical writing experience.
