Job description

Within CDIO our Business Analysts understand user and business needs. You will work with project /delivery professionals, scrum teams to identify, analyse, model, and test these needs. You will be aligned to the DDaT profession (Digital Data and Technology profession).

You will be an active member of a delivery/scrum team collaborating with all stakeholders throughout the full delivery lifecycle. You will create a common understanding for the intended outcomes, ensuring maximum benefits are delivered.

Leading small to medium sized projects and supporting larger projects, you will manage stakeholder relationships and have a good understanding of their own work. You will advance the business analyst community through sharing best practice and mentor others.

With a systematic, analytical approach to problem solving you will have good interpersonal skills and be confident in dealing with customers/users. You will possess a common understanding of project methodologies and be able to apply appropriate business analysis tools and techniques.

Role Areas

CE&ITBS - CDIO Customer Engagement and IT Business Services Group (CE&ITBS) covers a wide range of business services. We're helping our colleagues to join up our front and back-office work, building on their work to improve quality, focussing on getting it right first time for customers. We measure our progress closely as we do this, such as through the speed of answering calls and shifting customers to digital channels.

CCS&TD - In Corporates, Customer Strategy and Tax Design, our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we're passionate about helping individuals and businesses get their tax right. This an exciting time for digital and technology in HMRC. We are in the middle of a major transformation process that will fundamentally improve the department's networks, technology, and digital services for our customers and colleagues.

EPS M&WPS - Our focus is on ensuring consistent and excellent employee experience, putting our customers at the heart of all that we do. To be a safe pair of hands to enable customer exploitation of the CDIO delivered tools, which in turn enables HMRC's ambition to become one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world.

EPS Programme team We work alongside several stakeholders remediating our IT technical debt to create a view of all our services and systems to a component level, this helps reduce the risk to HMRC.

CTD&O Chief Technology and Design Officer provide strategic technology leadership for HMRC. The Team includes the heads of profession for Architecture, Product Management, Design and User Research, Technology Strategy and Technology Innovation.

Responsibilities

At this level, you will be expected to:
  • Manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Work as part of a team or independently when appropriate.
  • Have a good understanding of your own work.
  • Use Business Analysis tools and techniques to support project and service delivery.

Essential Criteria:
  • Experience of Business analysis or using Analysis skills in a similar environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Analysis tools and techniques.

Desirable criteria:
  • Knowledge of DDaT Profession (digital data and technology) and working in different Methodologies.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplined team within an IT environment.


Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
  • Presentation - present a short presentation around a given scenario.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. You will get more detail on this as part of targeted locations move communications.
