As our next Technology Solutions Architect in our Digital and Enabling domain, you’ll have the brilliant opportunity to shape the future by working with the business, engaging with senior stakeholders, operational teams, business analysts and other architecture domains to optimise our technology and create solutions in support of our strategic blueprint. You’ll join a likeminded team in our Leeds based IT & Transformation function, with working from home capability.

About the role

As Technology Solutions Architect in our Digital and Enabling domain, you’ll operate within Agile and Waterfall projects to deliver solution designs aligned to our strategic priorities, principles and standards. You’ll assess and validate detailed designs to ensure alignment with solution architectures and lead change initiatives through Architecture governance processes. You will:

  • Translate enterprise architectures into meaningful solution options and leading design activities across all impacted components (people, process, data, technology) in accordance with our strategies and frameworks
  • Direct and execute solution design activities and provide consultancy services, managing design dependencies, constraints, risks and issues
  • Proactively assess and undertake research and Proof of Concept activities, liaising with technology vendors and partners as required
  • Execute Compliance Assessments to ensure robust delivery against solution architectures
  • Review solution options to assess impact of new requirements on existing functionality, data and systems including alternative design scenarios
  • Perform gap analysis between current and future state applications/ systems
  • Work in conjunction with other Architecture domains to define and execute technology roadmaps
  • Contribute to Enterprise Architecture, strategies, sub-strategies and frameworks
  • Drive rationalisation of our technology landscape and remediation of legacy risk to modernise and simplify our Information and Technology platforms

About you

You’ll be able to demonstrate senior level experience dealing with complex change programmes ensuring architecture aligns with strategic organisational priorities. You’ll also have excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to manage and resolve risk and competing/ conflicting priorities. You will have:

  • Demonstrable ability to create appropriate documentation to clearly articulate and present designs
  • Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL technologies and their application
  • Knowledge of industry standard design patterns and multi-tier architecture including Microservice Architecture and APIs
  • A working knowledge of frameworks supporting Microservice architectures such as Spring underpinned by Java
  • Experience of integrating solutions across on-premises and cloud in a hybrid environment
  • TOGAF (or equivalent certification) or relevant work experience
