About us
The Virtual School in Hertfordshire is a dynamic education service supporting the most educationally disadvantaged children and young people in Hertfordshire. We pride ourselves on our creative and innovative approach. We create personalised support plans for young people and care leavers and help them make the most of their education. With a research-led approach and expert knowledge and understanding of the barriers to educational success we are keen to try new ideas in learning, look at education holistically and incorporate rigorous data analysis to help children reach their full potential.
We understand that care experienced children and young people need different support at different times and as an ‘all-through’ Virtual School we can provide that help and support when it is needed most. We currently have 83 young people studying at university, each one the first in their family. Our goal is to keep them there and help many more into similar positions.
The role
As a School Business Manager & Intelligence Analyst you’ll ensure the smooth running of The Virtual School. Working closely with Data & Support staff, senior leadership and other stakeholders, you’ll make important strategic decisions based on your own analysis. You’ll collate research for senior staff and the Virtual School’s governing body for both regular and ad hoc report writing. Interpreting and presenting data in an accessible way, you’ll improve how a wide range of colleagues help children and care leavers. For example, monitoring attendance and punctuality through data analysis allows staff to effectively take action to ensure children don’t miss out.
You’ll write reports for a variety of external bodies, including Ofsted inspections, and work collaboratively with the wider departments to ensure all services are available to the Virtual School. You’ll oversee and maintain a variety of systems as we strive to be an institution of innovation and improvement. Your development of new systems and compliance checks will ensure this. You’ll also be responsible for the recruitment and training of new team members, ensuring they fully understand our strategy and vision.
About you
You’ll be an experienced analyst, combining curiosity, creativity and critical thinking, with a keen interest and knowledge of working in education. Your exceptional attention to detail is vital to young people’s success. As well as building great connections with the vast number of institutions we deal with, you’ll have a firm understanding of how school finances operate.
You’ll have advanced operational intelligence skills and experience in project management with a Business or Statistical degree. Your advanced Microsoft Office skills will allow you to navigate spreadsheets and use analytical software and your ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders will ensure our work is effective.
