Protecting London is a unique challenge. And as the population continues to increase, it’s only becoming more complex. In fact, the nature of crime is changing. Soon, most will be committed in private or from a keyboard. Whether it’s carried out by individuals, corporations or by organised groups, financial crimes are also increasing. This includes anything from embezzlement to money laundering. When crime changes, we need to adapt the way we work in order to tackle it.

Investigating allegations of money laundering, you’ll trace assets, analyse financial accounts and bank statements, and compile orders. It’s critical work, as you’ll carry out national and international investigations with the MPS Criminal Finance Team. You’ll also conduct methodical and open-source financial enquiries and gather financial intelligence and evidence. This way, you’ll support proactive policing operations and the MPS Specialist Crime and Operations units.

We’re looking for someone with excellent knowledge of financial products, enough to carry out complex analysis, and to interrogate MPS databases (including CRIMINT+ and ARENA). As a Financial Investigator and Confiscator, you’ll need to identify intelligence and opportunities to find evidence and introduce them at relevant stages of proceedings. You’ll also bring excellent communication skills to present evidence in court, and to act as liaison with defence and prosecution lawyers.
