About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE CARRICK YARD INVESTMENT

Our work has the ability to have a profound impact on residents’ lives. Being smart and courageous with the council’s finances means we can achieve more for our residents.

Take the Carrick Yard housing development in Luton Street. When a big international building firm couldn’t find a sales partner, we stepped in to create a joint venture partnership and underwrite any unsold units to protect our investment. Then when we felt a big banking partner would be overcharging the venture for financing the development, we decided to finance it ourselves. The result? 171 homes are now under construction, leading the redevelopment of the Church Street area, whilst the council is projecting a potential return on investment of almost 14% – far in excess of anything that can be achieved on cash deposits in current market conditions.

The Role:

As a Strategy & Performance Analyst, you can make your own powerful contribution.

Using data and analytics, you’ll help us better understand the impact of our services and strategies. Expanding our data visualisation, data management and access to reports is a vital part of achieving our wider ‘City for All’ vision, where our residents can live in a borough that enriches their lives and helps fulfil their potential. Your work will play a key role in getting us there.

Specifically, you’ll develop a reporting process to help us evaluative strategy delivery, lead on finding new ways to automate our data collection, build our horizon-scanning capabilities and promote the role of analysis throughout the council.

On a day-to-day level, you’ll act as an analytical lead to produce reports, intelligence and presentations on strategy and service evaluation for both cabinet members and senior officers.

About You:

You’ll have experience in delivering analytical support for strategic planning. You should also be able to develop products to make collecting and managing data more efficient, and be comfortable extracting and manipulating datasets.

Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent IT literacy, which includes advanced Excel skills and MS products like PowerApps, PowerAutomate and PowerBi (or similar).

Knowledge of performance and risk management is useful but not essential.

What We Offer:

Westminster is an amazing place. There are 250,000 diverse residents, over 50,000 vibrant and vital businesses and three-quarters-of-a-million people working here every day.  Our mission is to create city for all. We’re an organisation that wants the very best for our residents:  a supportive and safe environment, the chance to grow and learn throughout their lives, to build fantastic careers in world-leading industries, to have access to high-quality, affordable housing and to retire into the community with dignity and pride.

We want Westminster to be a place you can make the most of your talents and thrive as an individual. That’s why we’re proud to have won Best Health & Wellbeing Initiative in the 2020/21 Business Culture Awards. By being the best you can be, you’ll help us adapt to the changing needs of our organisation and communities.

At Westminster City Council, we are passionate about our aim to be an inclusive workplace for all that reflects the communities we serve, and we believe everyone is valued. We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented backgrounds, including BAME, LGBTQ+ and those with hidden or visible disabilities. We’re committed to ensuring all our staff – regardless of gender, age, religion, sexuality, ethnicity or disability – can succeed. We value diversity and appreciate that people work in different ways. So, as a Timewise employer we work to provide flexible working arrangements and an empowering environment that enables you to be your best, that is the Westminster Way.

  2. Value our people and diversity: Everyone is valued
We embrace our differences, to bring new perspectives to the future challenges of our city.
