Job Details

A unique opportunity to shape national and international health protection service delivery and impact the lives of millions of people.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been set up to provide health security and health protection for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. We will act like no other organisation previously to mitigate threats to health before they materialise.

UKHSA will build the nation’s health resilience and security, strengthening our ability to detect and monitor infectious diseases and external threats to health. Using robust evidence and world-leading expertise, we will go deeper to analyse threats to health, and how best to prevent and control them. UKHSA will ensure a system-wide response in partnership with local authorities, NHS, academia, global professional institutes and industry.

We know that science, data and analytics will be at the heart of our future response; integrating our capabilities and big data to better anticipate, prevent and respond to global health crises that can affect everyone.

The Opportunity

This is a high profile, challenging and rewarding leadership role with the ability to make a significant impact on UKHSA’s future direction.  Science, data and analytics will be at the heart of our future response; integrating our capabilities and big data to better anticipate, prevent and respond to global health crises that can affect everyone.

The Director Analytics and Data Sciences is responsible for building and providing a world-class analytics capability that informs health protection activities, decision-making, actions and/or interventions and outcomes, including production of advanced analytics in consumable forms for end users.

We are looking for an inspiring leader, capable of leading dispersed and multifunctional teams through change, a strategic thinker, able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have led teams at the cutting-edge of complex analytics and visualisation, thinking differently about how to deliver policy relevant health capabilities.  You will have the ability to connect strategy, operational planning and complex capabilities to enable National outcomes; delivering continuous improvement in the way that we think and operate, for both our long-term efficiency and effectiveness.

Diversity at UKHSA is about reflecting the communities we serve, holding the principles of equality and inclusion at the heart of everything we do and all that we stand for, embracing differences, creating possibilities, and growing together.  We aim to foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel included and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to our purpose.
